The Naseeb Code of Conduct
Marriage begins with character.
Naseeb was created for people seeking marriage with seriousness, dignity, honesty and respect.
Every profile represents a real person: someone’s daughter or son, sister or brother, mother or father. Behind every photograph and every answer is a human being who has made themselves vulnerable by allowing others to consider them for marriage.
Access to another candidate’s profile is therefore a privilege, not an invitation to judge, ridicule, expose or entertain others at their expense.
Whether or not a match leads to marriage, we expect every Naseeb candidate to leave the other person with their dignity intact.
By participating in the Naseeb community, you agree to the following principles.
1. Treat people’s privacy as an amanah
Information shared through Naseeb is provided for the purpose of considering compatibility for marriage. It is not content for social media, group chats, livestreams or entertainment.
Do not post, publish, circulate or distribute another candidate’s profile, photographs, personal information or private conversations without their permission.
In particular, you must not:
- screenshot or screen-record profiles or conversations for the purpose of sharing, mocking, exposing or shaming another person;
- post someone’s Naseeb profile on TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, Reddit, WhatsApp groups or any other public or private forum to invite commentary or ridicule;
- share someone’s photographs, personal answers or messages with others for entertainment;
- reveal that someone is using Naseeb when they have not chosen to disclose that themselves;
- threaten to publish conversations, photographs or personal information following a disagreement or rejection; or
- encourage others to identify, contact, ridicule or harass another candidate.
Safety is different from shaming. Nothing in this rule prevents you from preserving evidence or sharing relevant information with Naseeb, law enforcement, legal counsel or another appropriate person when reasonably necessary to report misconduct, protect yourself or another person, or comply with the law.
2. Do not mock people
You will encounter people whose appearance, circumstances, education, profession, income, personality, religious practice or preferences are different from yours.
You do not have to be attracted to everyone. You do not have to agree with everyone. You do not have to accept a match.
But you must remain respectful.
Do not ridicule someone’s appearance, weight, height, age, disability, accent, ethnicity, nationality, education, occupation, financial circumstances, marital history, family situation, religious practice or personal preferences.
A person not being right for you does not make them worthy of humiliation.
3. Accept rejection with dignity
No candidate owes another candidate attraction, a relationship, continued communication or marriage.
If someone declines a match, ends a conversation or indicates that they do not wish to continue, respect that decision.
Do not demand an explanation. Do not insult them. Do not repeatedly contact them. Do not search for them on other platforms to continue the conversation. Do not retaliate by exposing private information or conversations.
A respectful “no” is enough.
4. Communicate with adab
Speak to candidates in the manner you would expect someone to speak to you or to a member of your family.
Disagreement is permitted. Disrespect is not.
Insults, humiliation, bullying, degrading comments, intimidation, threats, sexually inappropriate communication, persistent unwanted contact and abusive language have no place on Naseeb.
You may end a conversation at any time. Do so respectfully.
5. Be truthful about who you are
Marriage requires informed decisions.
Do not deliberately misrepresent material information about yourself, including your identity, age, photographs, marital status, children, location or intentions for marriage.
Do not impersonate another person, create a profile on another person’s behalf without authorization, or use photographs that intentionally create a materially misleading impression of who you are.
Honesty does not require disclosing every private detail of your life immediately. It does require that you do not intentionally deceive someone about information material to their decision to pursue marriage.
6. Respect boundaries
A match is an introduction, not an entitlement.
It does not entitle you to someone’s telephone number, social media accounts, photographs, time, attention or affection.
Do not pressure another candidate to disclose information they are not ready to share.
Do not pressure someone to move communication away from Naseeb.
Do not pressure someone to meet in person.
Do not pressure someone to continue communicating after they have indicated that they wish to stop.
7. Do not weaponize vulnerability
People may disclose personal experiences while exploring marriage.
Do not later use those disclosures to embarrass, manipulate, threaten or discredit them.
Something shared with you in trust should not become ammunition because a match did not work out.
8. Do not gossip or turn candidates into content
Naseeb is not a source of content.
Candidates must not use other members, their profiles or their conversations as material for reaction videos, livestreams, podcasts, “dating story” posts, memes or other entertainment where the person can reasonably be identified.
Removing someone’s name does not necessarily make the conduct acceptable if their photograph, circumstances, messages or other information still make them identifiable.
9. Involve families and wali respectfully
Naseeb supports serious marriage intentions and recognizes that candidates may choose to involve family members or, where applicable, a wali.
Family involvement must never become a mechanism for intimidation, humiliation or pressure.
Treat a candidate’s family and representatives with the same courtesy expected between candidates.
10. Never exploit someone financially
Do not use Naseeb to solicit money, investments, loans, gifts or financial assistance.
Do not use romantic or marriage interest to manipulate another candidate financially.
Candidates should be particularly cautious of anyone requesting money, banking information, cryptocurrency, gift cards or financial transfers.
11. Report misconduct — do not conduct a public trial
If you believe another candidate has behaved dishonestly, abusively or dangerously, report the conduct to Naseeb.
Provide evidence where appropriate and allow the matter to be reviewed privately.
Do not use social media to organize harassment, publicly accuse someone, invite strangers to investigate them or encourage others to contact them.
Where there is an immediate safety concern or suspected criminal conduct, contact the appropriate authorities.
12. Leave people with their dignity
Not every introduction will become a marriage. Most will not.
Compatibility can fail for countless reasons, and declining a match does not require declaring that someone is a bad person.
If an introduction ends, let it end.
Do not retaliate. Do not gossip. Do not expose private conversations. Do not recruit an audience to validate your decision.
Move forward with dignity and allow the other person to do the same.
The Naseeb Standard
Before doing something involving another candidate, ask yourself:
Would I consider this behaviour honourable if someone did it to me or to someone I love?
If the answer is no, don’t do it.
Naseeb reserves the right to review conduct that compromises the privacy, dignity or safety of its community and, where appropriate, to warn, restrict, suspend or permanently remove a candidate from the platform.
A match may be temporary. Your character is not.
